Ten remarkable veteran-led businesses head to Detroit September 2024 to compete for a chance to win a $20,000 grant that could transform their enterprises. But beyond the competition lies something more profound: a commitment to uplifting one another and embracing “community over competition.”

The participants in this year’s showdown come from all walks of life, representing various industries, backgrounds, and journeys. From the tech-savvy innovator to the seasoned baker, each entrepreneur brings a fresh perspective to the table, showcasing the rich tapestry of the veteran community.
Dr. Timothy P. Coffin, CEO of Conquiro, Inc., blends his extensive experience in health informatics with a passion for improving healthcare systems for veterans. A leader in government healthcare solutions, Dr. Coffin’s work spans AI-based methodologies, precision medicine, and robotic process automation. His focus on depression and suicide risk detection within the veteran community adds a unique, mission-driven dimension to his business.
Lorrena Black, founder of She Served LLC, is dedicated to empowering veterans and professionals through leadership development, coaching, and motivational speaking. A 25-year Army veteran, she leverages her military experience to help others unlock their full potential, focusing on resilience and growth.
Jill Hinton Wolfe, founder of Combat Canines, has combined her love for dogs and her background as a US Army Public Affairs Officer to create a line of premium, all-natural dog treats. Her business supports veteran charities, reflecting her dedication to both the veteran community and animal welfare.
Amit Parmar, a former Navy Nuclear Electronics Technician, now leads ShareOn, a platform for peer feedback and professional growth. With his blend of technical skills and a drive to create meaningful community impact, Amit embodies the spirit of innovation and adaptability.
Theresa Withers, CEO of Malkia Essentials, is a licensed cosmetologist, turned her personal struggles with hair and scalp health into a thriving business offering natural, chemical-free products. Her dedication to helping others through transparency and authenticity sets her apart.
Chris Wysong, founder of Bucket of Bread LLC, brings a unique flavor to the competition. After a successful military career, he turned his love for baking into a business that has won accolades and captured hearts. Chris exemplifies how creativity and passion can lead to unexpected paths in entrepreneurship.
Phu Do, CEO of LinkWaveAI, merges his construction expertise with cutting-edge AI technology to revolutionize project management in the industry. A U.S. Army veteran, Phu brings a disciplined, strategic approach to leadership, ensuring his company stays at the forefront of innovation.
James Legier, the leader behind Legier’s Woodshop turned a hobby into a thriving business. From crafting rings out of whiskey barrel staves to creating pieces featuring materials from historic military locations, they are a perfect example of how personal stories and passions can build a brand with a powerful message.
Mike Smith, his company Gyrene was founded by three Marine veterans, offers real-world solutions to complex problems. This team of leaders is united by their commitment to leveraging their military experience in innovative ways, demonstrating the impact of collaboration and shared vision.
Miriam Eberhardt, founder of Purple Heart Pastries LLC, has a passion for blending flavors from different cultures. After serving in the Army and starting a small cookie business with her daughters, Miriam’s entrepreneurial journey is a testament to resilience and the joy of creating something meaningful from life experiences.
